New rooftop amenity deck for the recently renovated 2144 California Street, NW apartment building taking full advantage of the magnificent views.
One of the area's premier multi-family residences, the Halstead features a world-class amenity deck designed by CGLA. The Japanese-influenced design creates a careful balance between shared space and intimacy through the use of natural stone walls, trex-screen railings, low and medium height plantings as well as a series of seating opportunities. The design also boasts an outdoor pool and sun deck for the residents.
For this premier multi-family building in Arlington County, VA, CGLA provided a full range of design services from concept to the built-form. The amenity areas include elegant outdoor living canvas structures that provide ample shading for outdoor relaxation and grilling during summer months, while during the colder months, an outdoor gas fire pit and comfortable lounge furniture create an inviting atmosphere for residents to comfortably use the space.
For this proposed multi-family project in Fairfax, we designed a series of pedestrian-oriented amenities around the site to serve as a public/ private transition by creating meaningful places alongside the streetscape.
The main courtyard is an urban sheek location for residents to come lounge and gather.
The roof deck is elegantly simplistic offering great views, seating opportunities, a fire pit and grill areas.

The site includes private courtyards as well as a public linear trail connecting the adjacent neighborhood to Route 1. The Route 1 frontage was designed to promote walkability and safety while planning for the future bus-rapid transit line.
