The historic Dahlgren Chapel and Quad lies at the heart of Georgetown University. CGLA was responsible for renovating the plaza and fountain in keeping with the rich tradition of the University.

One of our most cherished projects, the Memorial Amphitheater stands adjacent to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. The project included renovations to the Amphitheater's grounds, including new plantings, paths, furniture and lighting, all done with great care to ensure continuity with the historic theater and surroundings.
This high-profile project focused on inventorying the Memorial's planting and providing initial recommendations for maintenance and upkeep. Security concerns such as line of sight and visibility were major components of the study.

CGLA worked closely with the museum to develop a respectful design for the grounds that enhances their capabilites to provide events while respecting the rich historic fabric of the site and surrounding neighborhood.
Workging with a large team of experts, CGLA is the landscape architect for this complex project focused on preserving the Civil War era cemetery along the St Elizabeth's campus western slopes which have been experiencing severe erosion. The project balances robust slope stabilization solutions with re-introducing the native forest stand of the hillside.
The McDonogh School Memorial honors those alumni of the prestigious school that have fallen in service to their country. The memorial project included the creation of the memorial along with a plaza that seamlessly connects to the rest of the campus and respects the overall aesthetic of the school.
CGLA provided historic restoration services to Mount Vernon's main entrance feature. Key components were providing careful reserach of the vernacular landscape and re-introducing histrically appropriate plantings that worked with the current needs of the site.
CGLA provided restoration of the existing paths and several stone crypts throughout the historic cemetery. The renovation brings back the elegance of the cemetery grounds and enhances the safety of visitors as well. Our team focused on finding a balance between restoration of the original historic landscape and incorporating new planting to further enhance the existing monuments, crypts and paths, while in keeping with the traditional romantic landscape design of the 155 year-old cemetery.
